Pump the Breaks

Kenzie Fisk - South Campus Children’s Pastor

You’re driving down the highway at 60 miles and hour and you see traffic ahead and you pump the breaks. You don’t come to a full stop, at least for long. Consider our culture like a traffic jam. No, it’s not convenient, your plans may be delayed or canceled, but your family is together and safe.

Are you afraid of driving your car in fear of all that could happen? No, we follow the laws and advice from leaders we trust to keep us safe. This is a great time to turn our eyes to Jesus! We trust that He will direct us and keep us safe. Turn off the news, avoid social media and spend time with Jesus and your family. Even for just a few minutes a day. When we are being bombarded with negative information, we will begin being negative in our outward actions. Your kids will feel it, and they will continue the domino effect.

You as parents set the tone, if you are being positive and relying on Jesus, your kids will follow your lead. “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and you, Do not fear; I will help you.” Isaiah 41:13 (NIV)

This is an unfamiliar territory for everyone, which can be scary. We as kids ministry staff are here to support you and your family though this.
