THE SIMPLICITY OF FOLLOWING JESUS
Most of the time it feels like being a Christian and living a faithful life of following Jesus is quite complicated. There is so much to remember and so many things to "get right". But in another moment of awesomeness Jesus clarifies the whole thing and reveals the simplicity of following Him.
"But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:34-40)
Want to follow Jesus? It is as simple as this:
Love God with all of your heart (passion), soul (identity), mind (intellect and imagination), and strength (energy).
AND
Love every human being you ever encounter as you love yourself. (and I don't know about you, but I am an expert at loving myself).
See - simple!
I never said it was easy, but at least it's not complicated.
