Be a Worthy Vessel

Does your family have “fine china” that only gets brought out for special occasions? It is a big deal for a lot of households, but I always found it peculiar because if I have a great set of dishes I would want to use them all the time! I mean isn’t that the point?

God sees you as the finest of vessels, but He doesn’t want you to sit in a display case collecting dust. God wants to display His heart and love in and through you on a daily basis!

2 Timothy 2:21 says, "Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work."

In this verse, the apostle Paul is encouraging Timothy to purify himself from all that is unrighteous, so that he may become a vessel fit for God's use. This is a call to all Christians to cleanse themselves from sin and to live a life that is holy and pleasing to God.

To be a vessel for honorable use, we must examine our hearts and repent of our sins. We must turn away from anything that is not in line with God's will, and strive to live in accordance with His Word. This means making a conscious effort to avoid sin, to pray regularly, and to seek after God's will in all things.

As we cleanse ourselves from what is dishonorable, we become set apart as holy and useful to the master of the house. This means that we become instruments of God's grace, and are empowered to do His good work in the world. Our lives become a testimony to the love and power of God, and we become channels of His blessing to those around us.

Let us strive to cleanse ourselves from all that is dishonorable, so that we may become vessels for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, and ready for every good work.
