Don’t Quit!

David Reyes

Are you feeling exhausted and ready to quit? Maybe you should quit - if that’s what God wants. But if you’re sensing that God wants you to push through and carry on, hopefully I can encourage you. Check out this passage:

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:16-18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Here are a few key takeaways from that passage:

1. Life is finite
You and I are wasting away. That sounds morbid and dark, but it is a reality. But it’s also encouraging! Why, you might ask?

2. God is working in you
You might not feel it or see it. But God reminds us that he is still pushing us forward. He is still working in us.

3. This is just a small moment in time
Because life is finite, so are the problems that life brings. Your struggle is only for a moment. On an eternity scale, an entire lifetime is just a drop in the bucket.

4. Not seeing is believing
Ok, that doesn’t make sense, but it’s the opposite of “seeing is believing.” In other words, in God’s reality, faith comes not from seeing but from fixing your (spiritual) eyes on Him. Here’s a tip, read a passage of scripture, then close your eyes and quiet your mind. This may help you “fix your eyes” on Him.

I hope this encourages you to carry on!
